The Capistrano Unified School District had made a decision on realignment of the schools. This was released to the Moulton Community so that they are aware as the transition begins:
At the September 23 Board meeting, CUSD’s Board of Trustees voted to enter into a long-term lease agreement with the Community Roots Academy (CRA) at the Crown Valley Elementary school site beginning in the 2016-2017 school year. Community Roots Academy is a K-12 charter school currently being housed on the campus at Wood Canyon Elementary in Aliso Viejo.
Transition plans will be developed for programs currently at the Crown Valley site. This includes relocating Preschool, Transitional Kindergarten, and Kinder through Fifth grades. District staff will work closely with all affected schools to ensure a smooth transition and will engage the school communities in the transition process.
What does this mean for Moulton? As part of the transition plan, Moulton is one of three schools identified as a proposed transition site for Crown Valley students. The three area schools identified for the relocation of Crown Valley students are George White, Moulton and Wood Canyon. In addition, students may choose to relocate to other area schools including Hidden Hills and Malcom, through School of Choice options.
Moulton will benefit from the addition of wonderful students and parents. We look forward to welcoming the students and families of Crown Valley that choose to join our Moulton family!
Moving forward, as we learn more about the transition decisions of the families at Crown Valley, we will look for opportunities to include their students and families in our activities.
Community Engagement dates are being set to involve all stakeholders in the development of the transition plan. Please keep posted and look forward to these upcoming dates.
Also, in order to be proactive and prepare our school site to receive additional students, I am forming a Task Force to address the issues regarding traffic congestion at drop off and pick up as well as issues surrounding the various walking paths that lead into Moulton School. If you are interested in being a part of this Task Force, please e-mail me at jlcampbell@capousd.org
I look forward to working together and thank you in advance for your support and involvement.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline Campbell, Principal
