Out & About....

Holi 2018

March has begun and I decided to begin it with this depiction on #GoogleDoodle celebrating Holi2018 in spite of a challenging year so far.   As I write this, the Israeli Prime Minister is slated to be questioned about looming corruption allegations!!

It has been quite a day as well as I reflected upon quite a month--I began the month reflecting upon it in my Corner on WordPress.   This is as I  was witness to Democracy in Action for me as I was at the Laguna Niguel Traffic Commission Hearing.  The Community's interaction was absolutely fabulous which swayed my initial decision.   I worked yesterday on on-going outreach efforts as I was also thinking about and assessing the upheaval in Iran as it is in near economic collapse.    What is absolutely mind boggling is how 10% of Iran's Population--some 8 Million--Live outside Iran and are considered among some of the most successful around The World today.     What is also quite amazing is how even the regime has noted how over 75% of the people are against the Regime.    There is no accountability as Dr. Milani underscored in an interview on the BBC Persian Service.    It was just tragic and tough to listen to Dr. Abbas Milani and others mentioning this and realizing the full extent of the challenge.  They reflected upon the suicide of a laborer who had not been paid in months (The interview is in Farsi).   I look forward to be able to be supportive of the work of the Daily Outsider as the team gears up for its on-going development in this regard.

As I was reflecting upon the profound worrisome challenges in Iran, one of the key constituents were the women.   60% of Women   One of the leading scholars on Iran today, Dr. Nina Ansary, published a book on Iranian Women and this preview clip on YouTube was quite telling:

As I am writing this, I am working on a statement for a Graduate Seminar I am taking on Emergency Management--I noted this Graphic on it:

Screenshot of Climate Life Events chartThis was designed by a Ph.D. Student to underscore the true headwinds we face here in Mother Earth.    I was frankly shocked!!

As I conclude this first edition  As March is at hand, I continue to remain hopeful despite some of the headwinds at hand as I close out this first "Out & About" here with this compilation of thoughts as I say as always--Onward:

The whole world can gossip about you,
and if you don't take it personally you are immune.

Believe in yourself, and trust your own wisdom
rather than being swayed by the opinions of others.

No amount of self-improvement can make up
for a lack of self-acceptance.
