Around Town in South County: On the Eve of the End of Summer....
Summer is coming to an end here in South Orange County. This was evident today as Schools throughout South Orange County began the process of distributing the registration packets for the new School Year that begins on August 25. It is just gratifying to see how the Community comes together to prepare and to serve as they did.
Aliso Niguel High School was one vibrant example of this. Some 1000 packets were distributed by the team as everyone gears up for Registration:
This is as Aliso Niguel High School one of a number of facilities hosting the USA Water Polo Junior Olympics. Aliso Niguel's Water Polo Varsity Team made the playoffs!!

Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.

Around Town in South County: On the #OCFair2015 & #Disneyland
Two Pivotal Orange County Institutions have had anniversaries this Month. The Orange County Fair opened up its' door this week and cities will be featured as they raise the flag daily during the duration of the fair. Laguna Niguel will be one of the South County Cities that would have the honor this coming Wednesday on this 125th Anniversary of the Fair.
There is another institution that is celebrating its' 60th Year: Disneyland. The Orange County Register issued a commemorative edition chronicling the transformation of what it deemed a "sleepy farming community into the home of the Happiest place on Earth". Just like all around the World, our team here @ #Outsiders, we have been fascinated by the evolution of Disneyland and Disney in General.
In honor of this day, we wanted to share this from Walt Disney himself when Disneyland Opened on July 17,2015:
"....To All who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here, age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenges and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America, with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the World."
It surely has......

Around Town in South County (Week-End Edition): On the ArrowTour & the Chang Tennis Classic
The Rain came to Orange County this Week_End. It was a beautiful scene and a welcome respite!!
This was also another vibrant & engaging weekend throughout the County. Our team had a chance to visit Irvine Park Earlier today to join the "ArrowTour" put on by the Scouting Honor Organization--the Order of the Arrow. It was especially notable as the entrance to the Park took almost 45 minutes due to a number of engagements & events going on!!!
At the Arrow Tour, Some 500 people joined this afternoon to be educated on the Order of The Arrow. One of the highlights we were quite gratified to see was a Movie that featured a speech by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt as he joined the Jamboree. He was a Scout and a member of the Order For further interest, please visit http://arrowtour.oa-bsa.org/
Our team also joined the Michael Chang Tennis Classic. This is an event that is an annual event by the Chang Family Foundation in support of Home Aid Orange County--an organization we here @ Outsiders support. Unfortunately, the rain delayed the exhibition game and the children's Clinic which are the highlights of the First Week-End--which did in fact finish as noted here:
Exhibition Match is over! #KeiNishikori & #Michaelchang took the match 2 sets to 1! And no rain! An amazing evening of tennis for all!
Posted by Michael Chang Tennis Classic on Saturday, July 18, 2015
It was a beautiful Scene though as noted in this scene from The Newport Beach Tennis Club. The Tournament itself is slated to be held on July 24 thru July 26. We hope to be able to report on it. For further information, please visit http://www.changtennis.com.

Around Town in South County: On Carnvials & Fireworks On July 4, 2015
It was a bit of an overcast as July 4 began in South County. A tradition at Laguna Niguel continued as the Annual Run in the Park commenced which culminated in the Pancake Breakfast Sponsored by the Laguna Niguel Chamber of Commerce. According to estimates by the YMCA, Some 1400 runners participated in this annual tradition.
The Entire South County Community was then witness to a spectacular show of Fireworks in the Cities of Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo and Aliso Viejo. The community was out in force being witness to it all.
As the Community celebrated, our team paused to remember what Father Junipero Serra, the Founder of the California Missions reminded all: Always Forward. His feast was celebrated this past week and he is to be declared a Saint by Pope Francis. It is ever so the Story of South County in many ways.
