Around Town in South County (9/25/2014): On #AlertOC & #ReadyOC//The Need 2 be Ready

On Tuesday September 23, 2014, Orange County tested the AlertOC emergency mass notification system.  20 Cities who participate in the system scheduled a mass outreach.     To put things in perspective, over 30,000 calls went out for the City of Laguna Niguel alone.

Among community members, members of the Laguna Niguel CERT team traveled up to the Orange County Emergency Operations Center in Silverado Canyon to be trained on the system and be able to subsequently receive a tour of the Emergency Operations Center.    Further information is available by visiting www.readyoc.gov and www.alertoc.com

The Exercise was also featured on NBC4LA:
