We have been on the prowl as the Orange County Register's Parent, Freedom Communications, was on the auction block as three investor groups were in competition to buy the assets. Tribune Publishing, the owner of the LA Times and the San Diego Union Tribune, has won the auction.
Today's edition of the Orange County Register had extensive reporting on it. We here @ #Outsiders wish to extend our congratulations to the Freedom CEO who has been able to stabilize the Paper that has been a staple of Orange County for over 100 years. As we went to press, the US Justice Department has filed an anti-trust lawsuit to block the move.
We will be assessing this over the ensuing weeks.
