We wanted to report on this interesting initiative. Although there are no scheduled events in Orange County, the Cities of Long Beach and San Diego have events scheduled. If anyone in Orange County is interested in organizing local events, a link has been been available here:

Urbanists, civic hackers, government staff, developers,
designers, community organizers and others are invited to this event on June 6 in several cities across the country.
